What do I wear to Physical Therapy

What you should wear to physical therapy can depend on the specific exercises and activities your therapist has planned for you. However, there are some general guidelines to keep in mind:

  1. Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that allows for a wide range of motion. Athletic wear, such as sweatpants, leggings, or shorts, is often a good choice. Avoid tight or restrictive clothing.

  2. Athletic Shoes: Wear whatever shoe you tend to work out in or run in or wear the majority of your day.

  3. Layering: Consider layering your clothing so you can easily adjust your comfort level. You might get hot during some exercises and cold during others, so having the option to remove or add a layer is helpful.

  4. Avoid Jewelry: Remove any jewelry that might interfere with your movements or that could get caught on equipment.

  5. Personal Hygiene: Ensure you're clean and well-groomed. It's respectful to your therapist and can help prevent any odors or hygiene issues that might make your session less pleasant.

  6. Brace or Supportive Devices: If you have any medical braces, supports, or orthotics, bring them with you to your session. Your therapist may need to evaluate or adjust them.

Your physical therapist will provide you with specific guidance based on your condition and the exercises you'll be performing. If you have any questions or concerns about what to wear, don't hesitate to ask your therapist or the clinic staff for advice. It's important to feel comfortable and be able to move freely during your physical therapy sessions, so dressing appropriately is essential to a successful rehabilitation process.
